Large Portland Vigil

I am pleased to report that approximately130 people gathered in the evening at the entrance to the Federal Building in Portland (Oregon) to hear several speakers representing many different organizations. The candlelight vigil was marked by chanting slogans led by State Representative Jo Ann Bowman and the singing of "We Shall Overcome" led by Lorraine Heller from Oregon FAMM.

Posters reading, "Two Million is Too Many" and "End the Drug War" were greeted by honks of support and encouragement from passersby. There was one television station at the scene and a live interview with a radio station. I'll have more to say about media coverage tomorrow. It's 11 p.m., and it's been a long day.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
